What is Forest Bathing?

Forest Bathing, or "Shinrin-yoku," is a peaceful, guided experience that immerses you in the calming presence of the forest. This practice originated in Japan and has spread across the globe, bringing relaxation, stress relief, and connection to self and community.

Can I bring my pet? My children?

Please take this time for yourself and make arrangements for children and pets. Our Forest Bathing events are for individuals 16 and older.

We may offer sessions for children in the future, or you can schedule a private session.

What should I bring to Forest Bathing?

  • Closed toe shoes
  • Dress for the weather
  • Water, if desired
  • A sense of wonder and curiosity

How can I register for an upcoming Forest Bathing Walk?

Can you find me between the towering Poplar trees? I’m your Forest Bathing guide.

As a queer, lesbian, second-generation immigrant, I’ve called Durham home since the 1990s. I celebrate the richness of diverse languages and cultures.

My mindfulness journey began decades ago with yoga and meditation, and I continue to deepen my practice.

I believe we belong to nature and each other—a connection that is ancient and profound. Let me guide you to beautiful forests, meadows, and rivers.

I’ll keep time, so you can be timeless. The trees might whisper and the dance of sunlight may linger in your heart.

With forest beauty,
